What GroupSplit stores
Your name, email address (and phone number if you add one), the groups you are in, the expenses and payments recorded in them, and the people you add to a group by name, email or phone. This is what the app needs to split costs and show balances. It is stored with Supabase in the EU and shared only with the members of your groups.
Contacts
If you allow it, the app reads your phone's contacts so you can add friends by name. Contacts are only used on your phone to make that list; they are not uploaded. A contact's name, email or phone number is stored only when you add that person to a group.
Crash reports
If the app crashes or something fails, a technical report is sent to Sentry so it can be fixed. Emails, phone numbers and expense details are removed before sending. You can turn this off under Account → Privacy.
Usage analytics
Only if you opt in, anonymous usage events (for example "an expense was saved", with the split type and a rough amount band) are sent to Amplitude to help improve the app. Never names, emails, descriptions or exact amounts. Change your choice any time under Account → Privacy.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, a device token is stored so the app can tell you about activity in your groups. Each kind of notification can be switched off under Account → Notifications.
Payments
GroupSplit never moves money. If you add a PayPal.me or Monzo.me handle, it is shown to people in your groups who owe you so they can pay you directly through that service.
Your rights
You can edit your details in the app and delete your account under Account → Delete account. Deleting removes your sign-in and personal details; the expenses in shared groups stay so your friends' balances still add up, with your name shown as a past member. For anything else, email support@getgroupsplit.com.
GroupSplit does not use advertising or cross-app tracking.
